Program Overview

The Highlander Transfer Bridge is a 5-week program for incoming transfer students in the School of Education, occurring from July 27, 2026 to August 29, 2026.

This program allows students to earn up to 9 units toward their degree before their first fall quarter. The courses will consist of two Education major courses and one transitional course. Students will also have access to peer mentors, as well as be connected to campus resources and services, to enable a successful transition to UCR! There is a cost associated with taking the course, however financial aid is available.

Courses

Students in the program will take two Education major courses: EDUC 010 (Principles of Learning Strategies), EDUC 118 (Educational Research Methods), and URGD 120 (Transfer Success Program Transition & Success). The two education courses will be virtual, while the transition course will be held in person. To successfully complete the summer bridge program, students must enroll in all three courses. Be advised the courses are graded and will affect your degree progress and GPA. Course Descriptions 

UGRD 120 Transfer Success Program Transition & Success: This course is designed to provide incoming transfer students with knowledge on how to enhance their abilities for success at the university, as well as assist them in identifying crucial resources prior to or during their first quarter at the institution. 

EDUC 010 Principles of Learning Strategies: . Introduces attitudes and behaviors associated with successful learning and achievement. Compares research-based learning strategies in school, home, and multimedia with regard to different types of learners and topic areas. 

EDUC 118 Educational Research Methods: . Explores a topic of current theory, research, and issues in areas of education, society, and human development. Debate and dialog are the distinguishing features of this course
